1. Does Acupuncture hurt? What does Acupuncture feel like?
General acupuncture does not hurt. Acupuncture needles are hair-thin, so most people hardly feel the insertion. But you may experience a unique sensation, called De Qi, that is a heavy pressure or twitching feeling when the needles are gently stimulated. Sometimes you may feel an “electrical” sensation moving through the meridian pathways. Most patients feel the treatment is very relaxing and tend to fall asleep during the treatment.
2. Is Acupuncture Safe?
Yes. Acupuncture is generally safe when done by an appropriately trained practitioner using clean technique and single-use needles that is pre-packaged and 100% sterilized. The most common complication of treatment is a small bruise or a drop of blood when the needle is removed.
3. What is First Visit?
The First Visit includes a detailed intake form, a treatment plan, and specific treatment. Every procedure or information will be explained clearly and thoroughly before the treatment. Recommendations including exercise, life style and diet will be noted as parts of the treatment plan after treatment.
4. How long is each treatment?
For Acupuncture, the First-Visit will take about 75-90 minutes and the Follow-Up will be 60 minutes. For Massage Therapy and Neuromuscular Therapy, it depends on the conditions of our different clients.
5. How many treatments will I need?
This depends on the conditions of the clients' Acupuncture or Massage Therapy. Generally, the more chronic the condition, the more long-term consistent treatments are needed. And different clients may experience different results.
6. What should I do after treatment?
It is best to drink plenty of water after Massage and Neuromuscular Therapy. Water assists the body in clearing away waste materials in tissue that causes muscle aches and soreness. After Acupuncture, it is helpful to sit quietly, relax, or practice mild exercise. Large meals, intense exercise, and alcohol should be avoided.
